In the continuation of the Holyland real estate trial, the secret state witness on Tuesday, focused his testimony of former Jerusalem Mayor Rabbi Uri Lupoliansky. According to the testimony, Lupoliansky at the time was director the planning board subcommittee and he was told that any assistance he could give to advance the project would be most appreciated.
The state witness told the court that Lupoliansky received 2 – 2.5 million NIS in the form of donations to Yad Sarah, the nationwide chessed organization that he started. The witness explained that when he offered money to Lupoliansky, he immediate said “give the money to Yad Sarah”.
Next week, verdicts are expected in a number of other cases against Holyland defendant Ehud Olmert, including the Rishon Tours case.

A “SECRET” state witness accused a Yid of telling him to (the horror of it!) give money to tsadakah. No wonder the government is outraged. How can Israel be a modern country if its officials don’t realize they are supposed to live in fancy houses, take expensive vacations, drive impressive cars – all on their meager salaries of civil servants. How can a Hareidi survive in the modern world if he tells people to give money to charity? Can you imagine Barack Obama telling someone offering him a “contribution” to give the money to a charity. Can you imagine a country where people seeking public favor support the poor and needy as a way to prove their worthiness?
And a “secret state” witness – sound like something in a famous “People’s court.” But you wouldn’t expect a country founded on the principles of imitating the worse features of the goyim to hold by “due process”, would you?
How does this testimony “incriminate” him? It sounds like he did exactly the right thing.
Are these considered bribes or gratutites..as in thank you for minimizing the red tape?
