The daily Maariv reports that last week, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu sent his personal emissary Yitzchak Molcho to Cairo to meet with Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi after his election success.
Israel continues to monitor developments in Egypt with concern, and despite the first democratic elections in decades, the election of a candidate solidly affiliated with the extremist Islamic Brotherhood is cause for concern.
While Morsi made the correct statements, concerns surround rumors the new administration will not honor agreements signed by the two countries, with a focus being placed on the growing terror base amassing in Sinai.
Prime Minister Netanyahu is doing what he can to establish a working relationship with the new Egyptian leader in the hope of maintaining the political ties that existed in the past during the administration of President Hosni Mubarak.
