Welfare Minister Calls On High Court To Reconsider To Permit Adoption Among Toeiva Couples R’L

Minister of Labor & Social Affairs Chaim Katz appealed to the High Court of Justice on Tuesday 24 Tammuz for reconsideration of the issue of adoption by toeiva couples R”L.

In the state’s response in the matter as recently as last week, the ministry did not wish to act at present to amend the law but Katz is hoping the High Court will reconsider the matter now to reverse the current reality, which does not permit toeiva couples to adopt children. One of the members of a professional committee set up for the issue argued that toeiva families are considered to be exceptional in society, and that it is not desirable to burden “the child with additional anomalies” in order to prevent further difficulties.

The response aroused public outrage, in the political system and in the media, as well as within the offices of the State Attorney’s Office and the Ministry of Justice. Katz reacted to the storm and said that the state’s response to the petition included “a failed formulation that should not be said.” However, the Ministry does not intend to submit a different response.

Meanwhile, the Israel Psychological Association published a position paper stating that it sees fit to state that the State and the Ministry of Social Affairs’ position contradicts findings from a rich research world, as well as accumulated experience and many years of psychological treatment of children and parents.

“Raising children in LGBT families does not negatively affect mental health in children and does not affect their psychological and emotional development. This position is also accepted by other psychological organizations around the world, especially the American APA, “states a position paper signed by Dr. Meir Naaman, chairman of the Israel Psychological Association.

“Parenthood is measured by the ability to provide independent love, emotional stability, boundaries and security for the child and child, and it is therefore necessary to continue to examine the child’s” parental competence “to adopt it, with emphasis on personal and personal suitability, and so on.”

  1. while this is this most important story in Israel in recent days, why quote leftists in this article?

fighting the gay agenda is more important than the draft

  2. Two points.
As pointed out by the psychological association and social workers, the sexual orientation of the parents does not appear to effect sexual orientation of the children.
Any home is far better than orphanages or foster care for the children.

  3. > which does not permit toeiva couples to adopt children

Strange how Wikipedia tells a different story, with a timeline. In short, they can adopt but not on an equal footing with married couples.
