Beit Shemesh Family’s Home Vandalized Over Level Of Modesty

A traditional family from the Yafeh Nof neighborhood of Beit Shemesh was shocked to discover that extremists had damaged the door of their home in a way that prevented them from opening the door. As a result, the family was left trapped inside the house.

The family, which includes young children, woke up Monday morning and found they could not leave the house. After a few minutes, they became aware that extremists had damaged the lock and sprayed the door with graffiti, translating to “Enough immodesty!”

Shlomi, a member of the family, told ‘MehadriNews’, “We just got up for a morning of nightmares. It’s not the first time we’ve been harassed, but this time it’s all over. We have no problem with the chareidim, we have chareidi neighbors we live with as well as we can. We really try not to be provocative and we respect others.

“The police came to the house and asked us to file a complaint. We are still locked in the house and are waiting for the forensics unit to come and check exactly what happened. It’s a pity that some extremists are tarnishing the name of the entire chareidi community in the city and they must be arrested before a tragedy occurs,” he said.

  1. It is a pity that YWN posts these kind of posts when there are many people who read the website who do not understand the difference between a handful of bored extremists to an entire community of accepting people.

  2. B”H there was no fire or other emergency affecting the family that was locked/trapped in their home.

Now for the question: If there were a tragedy as a result of the actions of the self-appointed modesty police, would they suggest that it was the will of Hashem, rather than their misguided mischief? And if so, will they now think that the absence of any tragedies evidences Hashem’s determination that the tznius of the trapped family is suitable? Or that Hashem does not want people killed over tznius issues?

Let’s hear from supporters of the tznius police.

  3. to this we are proud of “mi ki amcha yisrael” ?????? a busha that this is the way we treat one another especially on the heels of three weeks and nine days (tisha b’av) those that want to be sheltered from their own realities should live in ghettos or perhaps wear burkas to protect themselves from the real world around them – this is a great lesson to teach their children about derech eretz, kibud habriyot, bein adam lamakom and adam lchaveiro, – just what is all the learning all about if it is not applied to derech hachayim and every day life?????!!!!!!!! tznius is only a small section of true yahadus – put the emphasis where it needs to go (not just what shows on the outside – as the inside is where the HEART of yiddishkeit begins!!!!!

  4. This is just another example of the abuse we residents of RBS are subjected to on an ongoing basis. Yesterday I saw cameramen from a TV station filming the disgusting signs (already declared illegal by the Supreme Court) that tell women how to dress in RBS Bet. My taxes now go to paying a daily fine of 5,000 sh as long as the signs remain & the Mayor is too much of a coward to enforce the law.

We are not only attacked by wild dogs, we are physically & emotionally attacked by these terrorists. And just for the record… I am chareidi.

  5. Honestly hasn’t occurred to all of us that people who behave this way are mentally ill?
Why are we hate mongering. If they had , G-d forbid some-other horrible deadly disease, wouldn’t we daven for them?
Being angry at the behavior and bad mouthing certain segments of society isn’t going to change anything. But caring enough about an other human being (even if they are to sick to recognize other people’s humanity), is a true path to fixing the problem
This is a disease. Stop complaining about the fact that they act like idiots and do something constructive.
Daven that Hashem cures their insanity.
