The Interior Ministry Registrar for NGOs suspects foul play in Yeshivas HaNegev and is calling to dissolve the legal entity.
The case deals with an examination conducted by an attorney’s office on behalf of the Registrar of Amutot (NGOs), which after a thorough examination recommended the dismantling of the association or alternatively to attach an appointed official with a commitment to correct the deficiencies.
“According to the report, the lender will examine various issues related to the use made by the Amuta (NGO) in its assets, the connection to related parties, and the fear of distribution of profits is prohibited,” the document states.
The registrar received complaints the NGO conducted itself improperly, prompting an investigation into Yeshivas Shar HaNegev which was build and run by HaGaon HaRav Yissocher Meyer ZT”L. After his petira, new members were appointed to the NGO board and they are suspected of carrying out dubious real estate dealings.
The registrar will weigh permitting it to operate based on the outcome of the investigation.
