Chief Rabbi of Russia HaRav Berel Lazar visited Magen David Adom Jerusalem Headquarters on Sunday, 22 Tammuz. The visit was the result of the building connection surrounding MDA’s commitment to train Chabad shluchim in first aid and as emergency medical technicians (EMTs).

During the visit, the Rabbi received an overview of MDA volunteers’ activities, the organization’s control and control systems, and the operational activity in response to emergency events via ambulances, motorcycles and immediate responders.

During the meeting, the rabbi met paramedic Yisrael Weingarten and Aharon Steinmetz and heard about the rescue efforts in the attack on Har Habayis last week as they were first on the scene, members of the motorcycle response unit.

The rabbi was impressed by the fact that over 2,400 volunteers work in the Jerusalem area and said that the number is indicative of great devotion.

During the visit, the rabbi met about 10 Chabad shluchim from various countries around the world who began their training as EMTs in Hatzoloh, working hand-in-hand with MDA today.

The course is supervised by MDA Director-General Eli Bin, as part of the cooperation between MDA and Chabad, which has led to the establishment of Hatzoloh branches in several cities in Russia and the Ukraine.

In conclusion, the rabbi said that shluchim who are involved in saving souls in spirituality should know how to save lives on the ground, and called on all Shluchim to take a first aid course in Magen David Adom.
