Due to a somewhat awkward reality, Yitzhak Herzog will continue serving as opposition leader due to the fact that newly-elected party leader, Avi Gabbai, is not a Member of Knesset. As such, Gabbai asked Herzog to continue in his capacity as opposition leader.

Herzog thanked Gabbai, promising to do whatever he can in this capacity for the good of the party.

According to election polls, if elections were held today, Machane Tzioni would become the second largest party after Likud, a significant increase from previous polls which showed the party is decimated in elections.
