A retired IDF major-general has been summoned for questioning by the Lahav 433 Unit in the ongoing probe into possible fraud in Israel’s deal to purchase additional German-manufactured submarines. The case is referred to as Case 3000.

As reported earlier, six people were detained for questioning in connection to the ongoing investigation, including one person who is very close to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. One of the persons detained is Miki Ganor, who represents ship builder ThyssenKrupp in Israel. He was arraigned and his detention extended by the court until Thursday, 19 Tammuz. Allegations against him include fraud, tax evasion and money laundering.

The remand of Avriel Ben-Yosef, a Deputy National Security Advisor, was expended for he too is suspected of accepting bribes. On Monday, police froze the bank accounts of retired Israel Navy Admiral Eliezer Merom whose name is connected to the case. The “close associate” to PM Netanyahu was questioned and released on Monday by police, sent to three-days house arrest. Another defendant in the case, attorney Ronen Schemer, was arraigned on Monday as well, and his remand extended until Wednesday, 18 Tammuz.
