Health Minister Yaakov Litzman of the Agudas Yisrael faction of Yahadut Hatorah opposes an initiative from colleague MK Uri Maklev of the Degel Hatorah faction of the party.
Litzman spoke with Chadrei Chareidim, asked to state his opinion on Maklev’s call to increase the size of Knesset from 120 to 140 MKs. Apparently, Maklev feels the Members of Knesset are overworked and an additional 20 MKs are required to get the job done.
Litzman responded that he feels the tzibur would like to see the number of MKs drop from 120 to 100, citing most of the public feels there is already too many MKs and to increase the size of Knesset would be a major error. He explained that people are uninterested in hearing how hard MKs work and that there is no justification for increasing the size of Knesset.
