Weeks after a shul blaze in Rosh Ha’ayin, police earlier this week announced the arrest of a suspect.
The fire in the Nachlat Yeshurun Shul on HaNevi’im Street in Rosh Ha’ayin took place on a Friday night. All the Sifrei Torah were destroyed R”L. From the perspective of the mispallalim, the fire was set intentionally. Police and fire marshals opened an investigation.
The investigation has proven the mispallalim correct, with the experts determining the fire was the result of arson. Earlier this week, a 35-year-old citizen of the city was taken into custody as the primary suspect in the case. His remand was extended by the Petach Tikvah Magistrate Court and once again on Thursday, 12 Tammuz.
Forty days following the fire, there was a Hachnasas Sefer Torah for a new one and the event was held in the presence of the city’s Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Azariya Basis Shlita as well as Rishon L’Tzion Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef Shlita.
