About 18-months after Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced MKs are barred from Har Habayis, the decision has been made in coordination with Israel Police, to permit them once again to visit the holy site.
Beginning on Sunday, 29 Tammuz, MKs will once again be permitted to resume visiting Har Habayis for a one-week trial period. Once can easily imagine what the Arab response will be during that week amid the awareness it is a one-week trial period.
The move appears to be the result of a petition filed to the High Court of Justice by MK Yehuda Glick, who is a Har Habayis activist. The Prime Minister announced the one-week trial period before the High Court had opportunity to respond to Glick’s petition.
Gedolei Yisrael over the generations and the Chief Rabbinate of Israel prohibit visiting Har Habayis, which they explain carries the punishment of karess.
