Tens of prominent rabbonim from the dati leumi community have come out loudly in support of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, giving him a chizuk in the matter of the decision to free the Kosel’s status. They call on PM Netanyahu to remain strong in the face of mounting pressures from non-religious streams, as well as pertaining to the Giyur Bill, which seeks to restrict giyur to halacha to the exclusion of Reform and Conservative Jewry.
On motzei Shabbos, representatives of Reform and Conservative Jewry protested outside the Prime Minister’s Residence, seeking to pressure him to refrain from giving in to the “chareidi monopoly on religious services”.
Among signatories on the letter to PM Netanyahu were HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Eliyahu Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Shlomo HaKohen Aviner Shlita, HaGaon HaRav Elyakim Levanon Shlita and Rabbi David Fendel.
