Mashgichim In Petach Tikvah To Strike

Mashgichim of the local religious council in Petach Tikvah will be holding a one-day strike on Monday, 9 Tammuz, explaining they have no other alternative available to them. They explain they are being moved to the employ of a manpower agency, with substandard salary and condition. The mashgichim met on Thursday and voted unanimously to strike on Monday.

A representative spoke with Kol Berama Radio on Sunday morning 8 Tammuz, explaining that he is aware of the ramification of the strike, which will impact restaurants, factories and catering halls, but the mashgichim feel that have exhausted all other avenues.

Kol Berama:

Shouldn’t you be like police, or at least mikve women, with the latter not striking amid the awareness of the importance of her task?

Mashgiach:

Yes, we realize, but we have no choice. A mikve woman is in a different class due to the matters pertaining to a women toiveling on time.

We have done everything possible to avoid a strike. We are only striking for one day, hoping it will achieve results but we cannot tolerate the current situation. We are responsible for the kashrus in the city and yet, we are regarding as insignificant when it comes to our salaries and terms of employment.
