Health Minister Yaakov Litzman on Thursday morning 28 Sivan spoke with Galei Tzahal (Army Radio). The interview addressed healthcare issues, but ended with talk about the brewing Chilul Shabbos crisis in the coalition.
Litzman was asked if the Chilul Shabbos could result in dismantling the coalition. He explained “coalition agreements must be adhered to”, making it clear these demands are not new, but were discussed prior to the formation of the coalition.
Litzman was asked if he threated PM Netanyahu with breaking the coalition over the matter, to which he responded, “ask him”.
The chareidi minister made it very clear, that Chilul Shabbos is not viewed lightly and it would not be tolerated. He insists the Shabbos status quo seen over the years will have to be adhered to, and this is a most serious matter that demands immediate high-level attention.

dream on! shabbos is not important enough to leave the coalition – it’s all blah blah!
mark my word their seat (and monthly wage) is far more important than shabbos – they will stay put – shas and yahadut hatorah!
Let him 1st sort out mess with these specialist Dr’s who quit Hadassah Hospital, and get these stricken kids sorted out with the absolute best medical intervention.
147: there’s lots of money involved there too.
hadassah allowed the option of foreigners being treated in the children’s cancer ward, thus -over-burdening the nurses with additional overload, causing the israeli children do not receive correct treatment.
there were too many cases of children receiving the wrong treatment, b/c either the doctor was too busy (with the foreigners [from russia/ukraine and more] to be available), and that’s why the doctors left. or they were too busy to leave clear instructions
chilliworker2 Shabbos is very important to the Chareidi Knesset members!! But what is important to them is not the deciding factor to leaving the coalition. Any big decisions they make are brought in front of Gedolai Yisrael to decide.
{By the way they will make the same salary even if they leave the coalition}
chaver: once upon a time when such things came up, they always SAID, ‘we first need to talk to our rabbis’…
for some ‘odd’ reason, nothing of the sort has been mentioned!!!
