The training exercise for the treatment of trauma patients took place in Uman on Tuesday, 26 Sivan, in the memory of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov ZT”L. The major training event for Hatzoloh Ukraine was held near the tziyun, marking the end of the MDA training program for the first responders of Ukraine Hatzoloh who were trained by MDA-certified training personnel.
As part of the exercise, the EMS personnel faced a scenario of a nationalistic incident and the infiltration of terrorists into the tziyun of Rav Nachman or Jewish stores in the area chas v’sholom.
The responders had to triage and treat many victims in the simulated attack, which marked the completion of training for the 18 volunteers who will now join the ranks of Ukraine Hatzoloh.
Taking place in the training exercise were MDA instructors and commanders who traveled from Israel including MDA Jerusalem District Deputy Chief Avi Hovav. Also observing were leaders of the local Jewish community as well as local government officials. Following completion of the mock terror attack, certificates of completion were distributed and the new response station for on-call personnel was inaugurated.
Rav Hillel Cohen of Ukraine Hatzoloh stated, “Following the success of the course and the establishment of a network of responders in the Breslov community in the city of Uman, we are currently working to promote and establish courses in other Jewish communities throughout Ukraine in order to improve the field of medicine and first aid. In cooperation with the heads of the communities and MDA management, we are currently conducting courses aimed at advancing the field of medicine and first aid throughout Ukraine.”
