Beilinson Hospital proudly announces breaking a transplant record in Israel, conducting seven-transplants in a 24-hour period by working around-the-clock. Transplants included a heart, two lungs, one lung, two livers, a kidney and a kidney and pancreas. The transplant teams literally worked around-the-clock officials explain.
The heart recipient is a 49-year-old male who suffered from cardiac insufficiency for a prolonged period of time. One lung recipient is a 62-year-old man who lungs all but ceased functioning due to COPD. Lungs were also transplanted into a 59-year-old male suffering from fibrosis. Two livers were transplanted into men with cirrhosis; one being 70 who also had hepatitis type B and the second; 64-years-old suffering from insufficient liver function. One kidney was given to a 44-year-old man and the second to a 42-year-old woman, with the latter connected to her diabetes.
Hospital Director Dr. Eren Halprin says “This is an Israeli transplant record in life-saving transplants. I am unaware of a similar case in which seven patients were transplanted in a day. This can only be done in Beilinson with its skilled transplant teams and operating rooms, who spend days and nights in the hospital, non-stop, in order to save lives”.
