Police Okay With Olmert’s Early Release From Prison

Former Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, is hoping prison officials will wipe one-third from his sentence for good behavior. An Israel Prison Authority parole board will be convening later in June to weigh Olmert’s early release. Olmert’s leave was canceled after his attorney was apprehended smuggling documents out of prison following a visit.

Nevertheless, according to a Channel 2 News report, Israel Police officials announce they will not object to his early release.

Even if released, the former Prime Minister will have to continue a rehabilitation program that was begun in prison, and once discharged from prison, he will begin volunteering for the Leket food collection organization.

  1. your headline is a bit misleading, to say the least. “police okay….” does not necessarily mean “parole board okay….” the police do not have the last word whether this ‘creep’ goes free prematurely or not. it is strictly the parole board’s determination.

  2. So the disgraced criminal was caught passing over documents to be smuggled out of prison and the police still think he is fit for early release for good behaviour? What a crazy way to run a penal system. He was convicted of serious crimes and, on the face of it, may well have committed more crimes while in jail, but still he is thought fit for early release. Crazy!
