MK (Yahadut Hatorah) Moshe Gafne is furious with Herzliya Mayor Moshe Fadlon after he removed Degel Hatorah Councilman Elad Tzadikov from the city council on Tuesday night, the eve of 21 Iyar.
Gafne sent the mayor a letter in which he writes the mayor is not meeting his obligations and is acting illogically as well as contrary to their agreement, which Gafne explains no changes would be made until they meet. He explains that they backed Fadlon in elections upon instruction from HaGaon HaRav Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita. Gafne announced he is canceling the meeting that was to take place with the mayor until such time the situation is restored to prior to the dismissal of Tzadikov from the council.
At the core of the disagreement is the fact that Tzadikov finds the new education being infused into kindergartens as “problematic”, adding “this view is shared by the general public along with Rishon L’Tzion Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef Shlita and the city’s Chief Rabbi. Hence Tzadikov has objected to the new education program, leading to his firing.

Aren’t members of the council voted in by an election? How does a mayor “fire” such an elected person?
