PHOTOS: Bullet Locks IDF Soldier’s Shoe To His Foot

(PHOTOS IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

In the accompanying photos, we can see a bullet that lodged in the bottom of a soldiers shoe, a 5.56mm bullet that was accidentally discharged on Tuesday, 13 Iyar during a training event.

As the x-ray shows, the bullet locked the shoe to the victim’s foot.

  1. That is not a bullet. That is a blank cartridge or shell casing that the soldier stepped on with enough force to drive it through his boot. Check the xray closely.

  2. That is a bullet casing and not a bullet.

There are 2 possible scenarios to this story:
    1. a complete bullet (casing and projectile) that the border police office stepped on with full weight leading to penetation of shoe and foot and the pushing to the bullet into the casing (highly unlikely).
    2. the officer stepped on a bullet casing from a round that had just been fired, being boiling hot it had no problem penetrating the sole of the shoe after which it also penetrated his foot.

Since the actual bullet (projectile) looks far more dense on X-Ray then the casing and everything here looks the same scenario 2 is likely the explanation to what happened here.

  3. Actually the bullet isn’t “discharged” (he wasn’t accidentally shot)
He simply stepped on an intact bullet
    Like stepping on a nail
