The Darawshe family of the PA (Palestinian Authority) village of Duma has filed a NIS 10 million lawsuit against the State of Israel. The lawsuit pertains to the July 2015 firebomb attack in the family home in which some of the family members perished. Then Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon made the case a high priority, viewing it as a so-called price tag attack carried out by Jewish terrorists.
Efforts to obtain compensation from Israel failed, as it was explained the victims were not citizens of the state.
The family has now filed for NIS 10 million in damages, holding Israel responsible since the lawsuit alleges the government ignored the security needs of the PA residents despite incitement that was taking place against them at the time.
