The Israel Police volunteer from northern Israel who was promoted to the rank of superintendent this week, Chezi Farkash, explains things for him and others are different in northern Israel for no one shouts ‘Chardak’ at him as may be the case in Jerusalem.
Farkash, who also serves as the Zaka Northern District Operations Officer and is also a resident of Haifa, told Kol Berama Radio on Thursday morning 8 Iyar that “In the north, as in Zaka or the police we do our utmost to create a Kiddush Hashem, to related to one another respectfully”.
Kol Berama:
As a Seret Vishnitz chossid and Operations Officer for Zaka, do you find the positions may contradict one another?
Farkash:
Zaka is a part of the Israel Police and as a result of his work in Zaka he was able to achieve his new rank. In cases that they work to prevent an autopsy, I often appears in court in my capacity as a Zaka officer and have found if our approach is respectful, it is possible to explain our side to the other side.
I also do not feel it is correct to act disrespectfully against one another, as when some shout Chardak against frum soldier. Even if he shouts Chardak when he will need our assistance we will be there for him.
In the north, it is not like in the center and shouts of Chardak are almost non-existent. Here we are more open and accept everyone.
