Police report on Wednesday, 7 Iyar, that seven residents of eastern Jerusalem were arrested in connection with violence in Tzur Bahar, referring to violence against two people who arrived in the area to sell eggs.
On 27 Nissan, towards evening, police were summoned to Tzur Bahar, an Arab area of the capital. It appears that two persons who arrived selling flats of eggs came under attack. Within minutes, residents were outside and tossing rocks at the egg vendors.
While they tried fleeing and many parked vehicles were damaged. The vendors fled for cover. Police arrived and extricated them from the Arab area.
During the investigation police also learned the egg vendors were selling illegal, uninspected eggs.
To date, seven arrests have been made as the investigation continued and additional arrests are expected.
