What happens when a number of people who explain are a ‘chiyuv’ arrive at the Lederman Shul and request the amud for the neitz minyan? Many come to this now-famous minyan to daven with HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita, often leaving the gabbai to turn to Rav Kanievsky to perform his ‘goral’.
The gabbai approached Rav Kanievsky and explained how often, there are two or three persons explaining they have yahrzeit and wish to daven before the amud. Rav Kanievsky opens his siddur to a random page and begins scrolling down the page for the first letters of those who are the Chiyuv and want the Amud.
On Monday for example, there were two aveilim, one whose name began with an aleph and the second daled. Rav Chaim scanned a random page in his siddur and the first letter was an aleph and this permitted that aveil to daven before the amud, based on the Goral Rav Chaim Kanievsky.
In the Divrei Siach sheets it is explained the source of this ‘goral’ (lottery) in based on the famous Goral HaGra as passed down by the late tzaddik, Rav Aryeh Levine ZT”L, a grandfather of the rebitzen, as he, Rav Levine, received from his rebbe, Rav Chaim Berlin.
