Labor Party leader MK Shelly Yacimovich on Wednesday morning, assumed her new post as head of the opposition. In her address to fellow MKs Yacimovich stated that in actuality, there has not been a legitimate opposition for the past years and she plans to correct this.
In reality, this opposition is small and ineffective at best since the coalition holds 94 of the Knesset’s 120 seats.
In her address she stated that the coalition is using the need for a new Tal Law as a smokescreen and for her, as leader of the opposition, the main battle must be waged against the government’s budget for 2012, not the Tal Law.
