Magen David Adom officials report a total of five people were transported to Soroka Medical Center including three in moderate condition. The victims included a 70-year-old man stabbed in his chest; a 59-year-old man injured in his extremities; a 45-year-old male with head injuries; and two persons in light condition.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning, Independence Day 69 when a drunk male entered a kollel and began attacking people. The kollel is run by Rav Chafetz, housed in the Beis Avraham Shul on Malchei Yisrael Street in the southern city.

One of the avreichim reports “We were sitting in kollel and as we were learning we hear shouts. We saw someone with dark skin shouting but we did not understand what was taking place. in the interim, he managed to stab an elderly man and a number of others.

According to reports from the scene, the drunk man was also injured and was among those transported to the hospital. Police arrested the attacker, who is reportedly a resident of the city in his 50s.
