A number of Neturei Karta zealots on Monday night, tore an Israeli flag off of the wrong vehicle. The incident occurred in the Shmuel HaNavi neighborhood of the capital when they tore the flag of a couple’s vehicle.
However, the couple are members of “Otzma Yehudit” and a number of other members were in another vehicle following the vehicle targeted by the Zealots. The activists got out of their vehicles and gave the zealots a beating to teach them a lesson. The zealots were quick to extricate themselves and flee, shocked at the reaction to their actions.
Responding to the incident, Otzma Yehudit party leader former MK Dr. Michael Ben-Ari stated “Attacking the Israeli flag is the continuation of the treason by a small number in the chareidi camp who prefer a PLO flag and identify without Israel’s enemies. The time has come to teach them that one who attacks the Israeli flag will find those opposite them who will teach them the days of this behavior are over”.

I don’t understand. Isn’t tearing a flag off of someones car that doesn’t belong to you, an issur of ginaiva? How can such holy yidden that only consume chalav yisroel & paas yisroel do such an act?

I agree with both sides here. On the one hand, physical assault is certainly an overreaction to property damage and seemingly not a halachically acceptable response. On the other hand, at least these Neturei Kartei guys are finally seeing some consequences to their halachically unacceptable destructive actions towards people they disagree with.
Without getting the discussion about these loony birds what should you guys get for betraying hashem after all that’s treason against him and how many irreligious Jews prefer a child marrying a got than heaven forbid becoming a Baal teshuva so these people are ever so slightly 2 faced

This news item, along with some other yom ha’atzma’ut articles that were published yesterday, confirm my theory about your “back-door” (indirect) reporting style that continues to present a non-Chareidi hashkafa toward the state of Israel. Without saying so in so many words, time and again, YWN’s editorial stance shows through loud and clear. Along with the write-up about the lone Chareidi who dared to display an Israeli flag in Modiin Illit, and other articles.
YWN seems to be drifting ever leftward in terms of hashkafa, straight into the ideological camp of dati-leumi. I guess it’s your right to do so, even if I personally don’t approve. I have also noticed that aside from the very nebulous term “yeshiva,” YWN does not include any ideologically identifying description in its masthead. So, you might want to be “all things to all men,” (a New Testament phrase BTW), but people are seeing through the charade. Maybe you also want to appeal to Chareidi consumers who will patronize your advertisers. But, so many people I speak to around here are of late relating to the YWN website with derision as a fake-Chareidi website. You might eventually lose most of your Chareidi readership. Which would also be unfortunate. Eliyahu HaNavi castigated Bnei Yisroel for following two paths. “If Hashem is G-d, follow Him; but if Baal is, follow him.” Otherwise known as “dancing at two chassanas.” Reporting the “pesichas hazman” in Ponovetz (as important at this is), or burning the chometz in Bobov (this is too) — does not make a chareidi website. Your editorial hashkafa does. Looking forward to seeing improvements in this area!
