Shin Bet Wants the Homes of Fogel Murderers Razed

ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) Director Yoram Cohen has recommended to Defense Minister Ehud Barak and IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz to raze the homes of the convicted terrorists responsible for the massacre of the Fogel family in Itamar in March 2011.

Rav Udi, 36, his wife Ruth, 35, and their children Yoav, 11, Elad, 4 and the 3-month-old Hadas HY”D were slaughtered in their sleep by Amjad Awad, who was convicted by an IDF military court in November 2011  and his cousin Hakim Awad, who was sentenced to five life sentences in September 2011.   Cohen feels that while the government ruled in 2005 from stop the razing of homes of terrorists, in this case family members assisted after their horrific act in hiding the weapons and destroying evidence. Former GSS Director Yaakov Peri is in agreement due to the heinous nature of this particular attack.

Officials of B’tselem feel this would be unjustified, insisting the family of the convicted terrorists is innocent and therefore, the law prohibits razing their homes.  Cohen and Peri feel the move is a most effective deterrent and it is warranted in this case.

  1. How come B’tselem feels it’s unjustified if the family members assisted in hiding weapons and destroying evidence? It makes no sense.

  2. I think, what should be “raze”erd off, is the HEADS of those cold blooded animals. May they burn in gehenum for ever and ever
