The Lod District Court on Wednesday morning 30 Nissan released HaPeles Editor Nati Grossman to house arrest, overruling the decision of the lower court which ordered him held in jail for an additional week.
The district court also ordered the release of the newspaper’s CEO Shmulik Elyashiv and manager Avraham Trager.
Grossman’s attorney Yair Golan told the court there is no reason to fear his client will attempt to interfere with the investigation since police have not satisfied their burden of proof to present this fear before the court.
The court also realized Grossman does not present a threat to public safety and since he does not have a criminal past, there is no justification for not permitting his release, albeit to house arrest.
