With the high court’s May 1st 2012 eviction deadline rapidly approaching, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is trying to find a quiet solution to Beit El’s Ulpana neighborhood, aware that if the residents are ousted as it appears will be the case, his coalition is likely to crumble, as was reported by YWN-Israel.
Many Likud MKs and ministers promised to attend an event in Beit El in support of the residents of the Ulpana neighborhood, but in the end, Ministers Moshe Ya’alon and Limor Livnat were no shows, complying with a request from the prime minister to absent themselves from the high profile media event.
The High Court of Justice ruled in favor of residents of the Arab village of Dura el-Kara, ordering the eviction of residents of five of the neighborhood’s apartment buildings which were constructed by the state on the private land. The eviction notice will leave 30 families homeless.
