The Chief Rabbis of Israel have decided money from tzedaka boxes of holy sites would be contributed to kimcha d’pischa funds ahead of Pesach. The decision was made to allocate one-third of money from tzedaka boxes at the Kosel and holy sites for kimcha d’pischa and two-thirds for continued care and development of the sites themselves.
Rishon L’Tzion Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef Shlita and Chief Rabbi of Israel Dovid Lau Shlita have informed the Rav of the Kosel and Holy Sites Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz Shlita to donate one-third of the funds to kimcha d’pischa organizations.
Members of the Vaad Tzedaka Committee who make the decision include Rav Yosef Schlesinger (CEO of National Center for the Development of Holy Sites), Rabbi Mordechai Eliav (CEO of the Kosel Heritage Foundation), Mr. Shmuel Patt (legal advisor to the Ministry of Religious Services), and Rabbi Rabinowitz.
