Mofaz: Give the PA (Palestinian Authority) Its Demands

Newly-elected Kadima leader Shaul Mofaz is undoubtedly on the campaign trail, seeking to earn support for his party ahead of the next general elections, at which time he remains confident he will unseat the incumbent, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

In an interview with the New York Times, the former Likud parliamentarian calls for giving the Palestinians 100% of their territorial demands.

The Times explains Mofaz is working in earnest to dispel the image of being a “shadow of Mr. Netanyahu”, distancing himself from any image of being a political hawk. He warns the most serious threat facing Israel is not Iran, but demographics, warning one day “there will be too many Palestinians” which is why he is certain the creation of a Palestinian state is in Israel’s national interest. Mofaz is working to portray himself as a centrist with the security/defense background to unseat Mr. Netanyahu and restore the nation to its former glory prior to the administration headed by the current administration.

The Times points out that current polls show if elections were held today instead in the fall of 2013, Netanyahu would “crush” Mofaz at the polls.
