Two shoplifters took their stealing to an entirely new level, when they smothered an infant in a baby carriage with the stolen items.
On Erev Shabbos, the two women entered a branch of the Yesh Chessed supermarket in Petach Tikvah, and as you can see in the attached video, began filling a baby carriage with items off the shelves.
One of the females uses a baby blanket to hide the items.
The store manager noticed something not right, and stopped the woman as she was walking out of the store. She moved the blanket and foun dthe crying infant, who was being crushed under all typed of food products – including a freezing cold box of ice cream on top of the infants head.
Thankfully, the child was not injured, and police were investigating.

Nebach!!! The terrible perils of poverty take their toll on body and soul.
These things happen all the time all over the world, including the USA, and worse. Yeshiva World should not be publicizing such stories about Eretz Yisrael, making it seem like Israel is the only place that such things happen.
It’s nice to see the compassion 1 & 2 have for the shoplifters AKA thieves. Where is the compassion for the baby?
Oy! THe headline is misleading. Smother means to kill by covering, lo al af echad. Please write almost smothered. I had to read until the end of the article to know the baby was OK.

The author has made no error. While one valid definition of “smother” is to deprive of oxygen (while not necessarily implying death), another is to conceal or hide, or completely envelope.
To all those Saying this was due to poverty.. if that’s the case you steal bread and milk, not ice cream
