Route 12, which was last closed about ten days ago is reopening to motorists on Tuesday, 4 Nissan 5772. The roadway, running along the border to Egypt in the Eilat vicinity was closed due to mounting credible intelligence warnings of possible cross-border terrorist activities.

Actually, the road opened on Tuesday for a number of hours but returns to normal operations on Wednesday.

The roadway was also closed last summer as a result of a major terrorist infiltration and the subsequent fatal attack.
