Israel’s Two-Shekel Coin To Be Introduced On Chanukah

2 shek.jpgAccording to Arutz 7, Israel’s new two-Shekel coin will be introduced to the public on Chanukah. As YW had reported (HERE), the Bank of Israel had stated that they will be releasing the coin at the end of 2007. As the new coin will be introduced, the five-agorot coin will be phased out. According to the report, there are fears that the new coin may give businesses an excuse to raise prices as people get used to carrying more valuable coins.

  1. it will have a picture of condi and annapolis, if olmert has a voice in it.

or maybe just simply abbas w/ hamas at arafat’s “kever”. (but will it invclude their share of the $$$ they extorted from arafat’s widow?)

  2. This is a tremendous step for tzedaka. Now people that can afford will give meshulachim 2 shekel instead of one. They should bring back the $2 bill in the US.

  3. what’s the difference either way it’s fake money representing the u.s. dollar that israel still bows down to every morning afternoon and evening

  4. They already have a five and ten NIS coin. How does a two NIS coin make people used to carrying more valuable coins and how will it make prices rise?

  5. The Coin should not have a big Rabbinic sage on it in order not to offend the secular Jews. It should not have an extreme anti-religious secularist in order not to offend the chareidim. It should remain “parve”. I suggect that Ariel Sharon’s picture be put on it. Vegetables are parve.
