For the terrorists in Gaza the so-called ceasefire was short lived. Sirens sounded in the Chof Ashkelon and Eshkol Regional Council areas during the night, less than two hours after the 01:00 ceasefire was announced by Egypt. YWN-ISRAEL reported earlier that there was no official announcement made by Israeli officials but IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz told the media Tuesday morning, March 13, 2012, that “If there is quiet from the Hamas side, Israel will not launch targeted hits over Gaza”.
A rocket was fired at Israel at 10:15am, landing in northern Gaza. At 12:05pm, sirens sounded again as three mortar shells landed in the Eshkol Regional Council area. About five minutes later two addition rockets landed in a community in the same area. B’chasdei Hashem there were no reports of injuries in the attacks.
Eshkol Regional Council head Chaim Yellin explained to Israel Radio “for us, there has never been a ceasefire. The rockets have always continued here. Ceasefire refers to Ashdod and Ashkelon. We appear to be in a different county. When rockets only strike us, there is no response”.
