Jerusalem Marathon Set for Friday


This coming erev Shabbos, 22 Adar 5772 (March 16, 2012) is scheduled for the Jerusalem Winter Marathon. It is the Second Jerusalem International Winner Marathon and it is expected to attract 15,000 runners, participating participate in a variety of races with over 1,500 runners from 50 different countries to run through spectacular landscape of the city’s historic sites. There have been 5,000 overnight stays booked in Jerusalem over the course of the event.

The event will be divided into five and the start line will be located near the Knesset, across from the Israel Museum on Rupin Blvd:

RACES AND START TIMES – Full marathon race (42.195 km) beginning at 7:00am – Half-marathon race (21.1 km) beginning at 8:30am (Mayor of Jerusalem will participate in the 1/2 Marathon) – 10km race beginning at 10:15am – Public Race (4.2 km) beginning at 10:45am – A Community Race of 400 meters will also begin at 9:30am

Needless to say the event will result in major traffic snarls throughout the city.
