Kadima MK Shaul Mofaz, a leading candidate for the party’s leadership race, told members of the Knesset Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee on Monday, 4 Adar 5772, that with the Tal Law behind us, a new arrangement regarding IDF service will have to be formulated. Mofaz stressed that such an arrangement can only be the result of mutual agreement and not coercion, highlighting the latter is a non-starter.

Mofaz feels that failure to recognize that seeking to compel the chareidi community one way or another will simply result in colossal failure. He pointed out that there is a very thin line between democratic majority rule and attempting to repress a large minority.
