Israel: Who Stole the Cheese?

One can only wonder just how thieves made off with 35 tons of Tara Company hard cheese but that is just what occurred. The grand theft occurred on Shabbos, from the Tara factory in Tel Aviv.

A police patrol that passed the plant at the intersection of Yigal Alon & Totzeret Haaretz Streets spotted two men who they felt were suspicion, eventually arresting them on suspicion of criminal activity.

The suspects, Israeli Arab citizens, told police they arrived at the plant with a truck at about 22:00, and they began loading the truck via a hole made in an outer wall. While police were pleased with the arrest, they soon realized most of the stolen merchandise was driven away in another truck prior to their arrival.

The two are being remanded today, Sunday, 3 Adar 5772.

One should realize that hard cheese in Israel sells for over 55 NIS a kilogram (2.2lbs) so the theft is quite significant.
