Israel’s Cellular Companies Begin Layoffs

In response to government regulations towards lowering the fees involved in mobile telephone service in Israel, Orange, a leading cell service provider, has announced it will be laying off 500 employees in the coming weeks. Orange (Partner) officials explain that new government regulations that result in lower profits are having a direct impact, and 500 employees from different departments are being dismissed to compensate for the new reality.

The Pelephone Company has also begun laying off employees, with an unspecified number of workers receiving dismissal notices this week.
