Sunday Morning News Briefs From Eretz Yisrael

** An 8-year-old boy who choked on food was transported to a Jerusalem hospital in cardiac arrest.

21:10: An Egged number 2 bus traveling to the Kosel was attacked by Arabs throwing rocks near the Shechem Gate. Baruch Hashem there were no injuries. The bus did sustain damage.

21:40: A security guard in the Malcha area of the capital was attacked by an Arab male who tried to make off with his weapon on motzei Shabbos. The intended victim succeeded in preventing the attacker’s success. The attacker fled.

00:15: A rocket landed in an open area in the Chof Ashkelon Regional Council around midnight. A foreign worker was lightly wounded. He is listed in light condition with shrapnel injuries in Barzilai Hospital.

** Hamas sources in Gaza report one terrorist was eliminated as a result of an IAF aerial assault.

03:15: A second rocked landed in an open area in the Chof Ashkelon Regional Council around midnight. Baruch Hashem there were no injuries.

** Egyptian media reports that negotiators have informed Hamas in Gaza that if the rocket fire continues, the IDF will launch another ground forces incursion and such a plan already exists. Egypt reports Cairo continues working to negotiate a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

** IDF soldiers taking part in counter-terrorism operations throughout Yehuda and Shomron arrested two suspects during the night.

09:10: An Israeli motorist was injured lightly by glass shards in a rock-throwing attack in Shomron, near Tzufim Junction.

09:33: An Israeli was lightly injured in a firebomb attack near Azzoun in Kalkilye district. The victim was treated and released on the scene.

** The Tel Aviv District Court was petitioned by a psychiatric patient seeking to prevent shock treatment. The court issued an injunction preventing the hospital from using shock therapy against the patient, even if she consents, until a hearing takes place.

10:15: A male in his 40s was moderately injured when a wild boar attacked him on a moshav near Megiddo Junction. He was transported to Emek Hospital in Afula.

** MK Michael Eitan calls on citizens not to cooperate with efforts to create a national DNA database, calling such a move dangerous, adding no other nation has such a database and Israel should not be first.

** Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has extended his best wishes to the Muslim community, which is observing the Feast of the Sacrifice Holiday.

** Two firebombs were hurled at a bus traveling in the Shechem district of Shomron. No injuries being reported.

12:35: A resident of Gaza who infiltrated into S. Israel was apprehended by soldiers. It is reported the man is not a terrorist, but seeking employment.

** Four activists were arrested for violating the ‘closed military zone’ status at Ramat Migron.

** French Foreign Minister Alain Juppé calls for stiffer sanctions against Iran, warning an Israeli military strike will have serious consequences, resulting in regional instability.
