According to a police statement released motzei Shabbos, during the preceding 24 hour period in the Western Galil, there have been 38 fires, of which 29 were in open areas. Investigators fear that most of them were the result of arson. Fire investigators are still operating on the scene in the hope of finding clues that will lead to the responsible parties.

On motzei Shabbos, firefighters from Tiveria, Galil, Golan Heights, Western Galil, Jezreel Valley and Haifa were battling a large forestry blaze in the Gilon Forest area.
