Kiryat Araba Chief Rabbi HaGaon HaRav Dov Lior Shlita is calling upon Israel not to accept Hamas’ demands, explaining the proposed deal is contrary to Halacha.

In his tshuva published in light of the announced Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange agreement, the Rav explains that everything acceptable must done to obtain Shalit’s release but this does not include actions that result in unacceptable risk and degradation of Am Yisrael.

In the publicized document, the Rav calls for not capitulating to terror. “There is no doubt that capitulation to the blackmail of terrorists places all residents of Eretz Yisrael in future danger as was the case in previous prisoner releases”.

We may not save one while placing all of the tzibur in almost certain peril he explains. The Rav adds that the terrorists have a tendency to humiliate the State of Israel which has been evident, and who knows if they will sabotage the entire deal just to add to Israel’s humiliation. Therefore, we may not concede to Hamas’ demands.
