The Associated Press reports: A confidant of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Monday that his government would support a division of Jerusalem, which is reportedly a key component of an Israeli-Palestinian declaration to be made at a U.S.-sponsored Mideast peace conference next month.
As part of recent negotiations between the sides, Deputy Vice Prime Minister Haim Ramon has proposed turning over many of the Arab neighborhoods of east Jerusalem to the Palestinians. Ramon said the Palestinians could establish the capital of a future state in the sector of the city, which Israel captured from Jordan in the 1967 Mideast war.
In return, Israel would receive the recognition of the international community, including Arab states, of its sovereignty over Jewish neighborhoods and the existence of its capital there, Ramon said.
But Israel would not transfer control of the Holy City and neighborhoods around it to the Palestinians, he said. He did not elaborate but media reports have said that he has proposed Israel relinquish some sovereignty in the area that contains the most contentious sites in the 60-year-conflict.
In addition, the London-based al-Quds al-Arabi reported that President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert reached an agreement during recent talks in Jerusalem that the Temple Mount as well as other parts of the Old City in Jerusalem will be under Jordanian control as part of a future peace deal.
Under the arrangement, the Old City’s Arab residents will be granted Jordanian citizenship.
The newspaper did not say whether Israel would keep control of Jewish holy sites and neighborhoods in the Old City.

I’ve heard that Ramon was also the guy who pushed for pulling out of Lebanon, right before the second intifada sparked. he also claims to be the “brains” behind the disengagement. Shouldn’t he get it by now?
it is probably just too hard for him to be a P.M. over such a big country, so he’s cutting away all the parts he has no interest in! i.e. the kosel. jus by the way almost the only jews that live in those areas are either mizrachi, or litvisher or yeshivos just next to the kosel.
If peace would be guaranteed ( as much as possible.) it wouldn’t even be that bad (even l’halocheh possibly). This is land for mmmockery.
This guy is such an irresponsible LOSER……….
What a great way to bring the palestinian rocket launchers right up to the target. Rachmona letzlan. Have they no brains at all. Even poor old Sharon must have more brain activity than these two clowns.
Olmert has convincingly proven that he is very skilled at botching wars. He undoubtedly brings the same “skills” to peacemaking. What’s he still doing in office?
Its time for him to resign. I hope the apartment investigation that he is under, will force him to resign. If Sharon would know his intentions, he would wake up from his slumber!!
what does this loser think he will gain of it some missiles in his house mabey because of this he bougt a few houses that they wont be able to locate him
The Lubavitcher Rebbe OBM said do not give up even an inch when the last US president wanted to get himself a noble piece prize (carter) and we lost the Sinai now they want to give away our Holy City. The Satmar Rebbe OBM was right to oppose the creation of a secualr Israel, who needs enemies when we have the Zionist/Hellenist who deny the Torah and are in control.
We are experiencing the third expulsion from our Home Land as with the first expulsion we built the second temple, and it was destroyed we had the oppourtuny to rebuld in 1967 and we let it pass maybe not with the third expulsion we be Zochar to Rebuild the third and final Temple in our Holy City of Jerusalem may we all pray that Moshiach come NOW for We cannot take this galus even for one more second
I am no fan of the looney N.K., but sometimes the zionist politicians act in a fashion that is so insane, it makes you wonder…….
lkwdfellow, Funny it has never make me wonder!
torahtotty, Have you ever wondered (as I do continuously) why the “Z’s” are in control, while we in the USA are fighting agudah battles in the house, battling arson and hate crimes in every one of the 50 states, and losing the assimilation and intermarriage battle by large numbers???? Maybe the majority that is needed to sway the vote and bring emes to the forefront in E”Y has copped out..
Sayitlikeitis: you hit the nail on the head. If we could get a million North Americans to make aliyah then the problemS would be solved.
Flatbusher,
Its damaging talk because we end up giving, they end up taking, and in the end there’s no peace. Just like what happened in Gaza and Judea, it started off as talk and then we paid big time.

last time I checked, we were still in golus from the destruction of the 2nd temple – this is not a third expulsion.
