According to Egyptian media reports, the government is considering the release of Ilan Grapel, who was arrested in June and accused of spying for Israel. Grapel, an American Israeli served in the IDF. It now appears that increased pressure on Cairo from the US government may result in the release of the 27-year-old, who on Saturday enjoyed a visit from his parents, who were escorted by the American Consul General to Cairo, Roberto Powers.
According to a MENA news agency report, America will be boosting military aid to Egypt in return for Grapel’s release.
