Thursday Morning News Briefs From Eretz Yisrael


WEDNESDAY

15:48: Rock-throwing attacks at the Beit Romano Yeshiva in Hebron. No injuries.

16:00: An Israeli motorist traveling near Karnei Shomron in Shomron was targeted by gunfire. Bullets did strike the vehicle. Baruch Hashem, there were no injuries or fatalities.

17:37: A vehicle traveling between Migdalim and Tapuach Jct. in Shomron was bombarded with rocks thrown by Arabs. A 2-year-old was injured in his face and head.

** Rock-throwing attacks from Halhoul, north of Hebron. A number of people were injured.

** About 100 Arabs pelted IDF soldiers at the Kalandia Ckpt. with rocks. One PA policeman was seriously injured as he tried to halt the violence. One Arab was lightly injured after being hit by a rubber-coated bullet fired by IDF soldiers.

18:37: Rock-throwing attacks on the Gush Etzion-Hebron Road. No injuries reported.

18:39: Dozens of Arabs armed with slingshots approached Beit Haggai, in the Southern Hebron Hills. The IDF responded to disperse them.

23:51: An Arab males armed with a handgun was taken into custody near PA-occupied Shechem.

THURSDAY

** Due to sanctions by Israel Railway employees, 30 minute delays to be expected nationwide.

** Shelly Yacimovich was elected as the new leader of Israel’s Labor Party.

** Police over the weekend will remain on high alert along the Egyptian and northern borders, as well as in Yerushalayim.

12:15: IDF soldiers in the area of Beit Omar, north of Hebron, used riot-control adjuncts to dispel rock-throwing Arabs.

** Iran unveils its new ballistic missile capable of striking targets 2000km (1,200 miles) away, placing Israel well in range.
