Several dozen persons affiliated with “A Jewish Eilat” held a protest outside the Egyptian Consulate in the southern tourist city on Monday. The protestors called to expel Egyptian diplomats from Israel in retaliation to recent events in Cairo.
The protestors decried the open border that exists today in the south, permitting thousands of infiltrators into the country every month, including terrorists. They called on Israel’s leaders to awaken from the virtual peace and begin concerning themselves with the nation’s security.
Police arrived shortly after the protestors dispersed from the half hour event. Protestors told the media that persons inside the complex looked on with interest, some appearing anxious, perhaps fearing violence as was seen in Cairo, adding some were taking photographs of the protest.
