IAF Scrambles Jets To Intercept Syrian Airborne Enemy: BIRDS!

iaf21.jpgWith tensions running high on the Israel / Syrian border – after Israel’s reported air-strike on a possible top-secret Syrian nuclear facility – the IAF frantically scrambled warplanes on Friday after radar spotted a potential airborne enemy flying from Syria. Thankfully, they soon discovered that the culprits were migratory birds, the AFP reported. Israeli radar picked up the birds over the Syrian border but officers were unable to rule them out as enemy aircraft from the screen, the radio said.

  1. Pulsed doppler radar can easily distinguish fighters from birds by their different speeds.

The IAF probably thought they were hang gliders or RC aircraft, which the terrorists have been known to use in the past.
