Officials investigating the terror attacks on Route 12 north of Eilat last Thursday, which claimed eight lives, are reporting the terrorists were heavily armed, and they planned to take hostages. IDF officials have revealed that on the bodies of the slain terrorists were bomb belts, explosives, commando knives, makeshift fragmentation grenades, AK-47 Kalashnikov assault rifles, quantities of ammunition, and plastic zip ties, which authorities were intended to tie the hands of hostages.
According to Lt.-Colonel Lebowitz of the IDF Spokesman’s Office, it is clear the terrorists were planning to murder and take hostages, describing a well-planned multipronged terrorist attack.
