The recent renewal in rocket attacks into southern Israel and the deadly terror attacks of last week have prompted the secular media to quote Rabbonim Shlita, who have commented the decline in limud Torah during bein hazmanim is cause for concern and may lead to such horrific realities.
HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein of Ponevezh is quoted by Yediot Achronot, after commenting that incidents such as the Eilat area attacks are brought upon us “because of our aveiros”. The report also quotes the Rosh Yeshiva calling for increased limud Torah following the erev Shabbos rocket attack that struck a Gur Beis Medrash and seriously injuring two avreichim.
Also quoted is HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita, who warned of the dangers of bein hazmanim due to the decline in Torah study.

Just for the record it seems that this article has already been removed from YNET.
and it also caused many to bash them. just imagine the comments there.
Does this meaan that they recognize the value and power of limud haTorah and those who learn it?
Improper Gemara study is in fact an epidemic and causing major problems with a ripple effect that reaches to the edges of the world.
For openers proper vowelization and punctuation are crucial. Reading must be fluid and coherent, not helter skelter and disjointed. Clear meaning of the words is crucial. A dictionary in a yeshiva should not be considered pornography, on the contrary it should be constantly used. The students should be well aware of the sources in the Chumash and the applications in the halacha lamaisah. It should not be an abstract, stand alone persuit. The practical application of the law should be intelligent and benevolent, not illogical and bothersome. The discussions between havrusas should be motivated by a search for truth and not by winning the arguement particularly if it’s stupid. Also very important, is to recognize a major theme of the Talmud is pilpul talmedey chachamim, and there are some that the halacha is typically not like them.
frumkeit is booming, yiddishkeit not so much- v’hamavin yavin.
