In the 19th Congressional District of New York, covering Putnam County and parts of Westchester, Orange, Rockland and Dutchess, the Republican candidate, Dr. Nan Hayworth an opthalmologist and political novice, has defeated the two-term Democratic incumbent, John J. Hall.

With 82 percent of precincts reporting, Dr. Hayworth has 54 percent of the vote to Mr. Hall’s 46 percent.
